Smile, it's raining again

I'm sure I told you - more than once- about my love for Fall, rain and Wintertime. Now I'm lost in this raining maze... It has been raining for over a couple of months, and it's a little bit more than I can bear!
Our porch is ready for the season, unfortunately it's impossible to sit and stay outside because of the wind.
So I'm still working in my sewing room, playing with (wool) threads and fabrics, hoping for a gently warm month of May (that's my month!).
As usual, I've been baking bread for my family.

Un pomeriggio domenicale trascorso a comporre il Modulo n. 4 del mio percorso per diventare Quilt Judge: sono oltre la metà del cammino, ormai, e si sta rivelando un'esperienza impegnativa e fruttuosa, intensa come tutte le cose nuove che hanno un impatto intenso con la nostra quotidianità. ♥

A Sunday afternoon spent to compose Module nr. 4 of my way to becoming a Quilt Judge: well over half of the way now, and it'is proving to be a challenging and fruitful experience, as intense as all the new things that have an intense impact on our daily lives. ♥

Alcuni giorni fa ho trovato il tempo per progettare e realizzare un piccolo sampler che servirà da mappa a coloro che parteciperanno al corso di finiture nella versione rinnovata e interattiva, la cui prossima sessione si terrà il 28 aprile prossimo nella frizzante atmosfera di  Dire Fare Quiltare.

A few days ago I found the time to design and sew a small sampler that will serve as a map to those attending the class about fine finish in the renewed version, more interactive, whose next meeting will be held on April, 28, in the sparkling atmosphere of  Dire Fare Quiltare.

Sono felice di poter dire che ho moltissimo da fare in questo momento, oltre allo studio desidero approfondire altre discipline a cui mi sto dedicando; inoltre, ho iniziato anche a lavorare a maglia ed ho un numero ormai imprecisato di quilt che attendono di essere terminati. Troverò un momento per ogni cosa!

I'm happy to say I have so much to do right now, besides my Quilt Judge Course I would like to investigate other disciplines to which I am dedicating myself, in addition, I also started to knit and I have an unknown number  of quilts waiting to be finished (yes, UFO!). I will find a moment for everything!

Good news

A new beginning it's what we need sometimes.

Last Summer I've changed my town and my home.

Now I'm still thinking what to do about my blog.

I'm happily very busy with family, school, job, and stitching.

I'm a wanderer, but I'm not lost.

I'm somewhere in my stitches.

Time for changes

Mie care amiche, credo sia arrivato il momento di fare dei cambiamenti!

My dear quilting friends, I believe "time to make a change" has come!

 

Vorrei prendere un po' di tempo per rinnovare, tra le altre cose, anche il mio blog che, come potete notare, da qualche mese sto un po' trascurando e me ne dispiace. Ho tante idee ma devo riordinare anche quelle!

I wish I could take time to renew, among many other things, my blog too. I'd like to follow and update it day after day, and I need to make room for new ideas coming.



Sto lavorando ad alcuni progetti per l'autunno, preparando un nuovo capitolo per il corso sulle rifiniture per quilt che sarà così arricchito di ulteriori possibilità per terminare i nostri amati lavori con effetti speciali, e mi aspetta anche lo studio per completare il secondo modulo per il QUILT JUDGING COURSE.

I'm working on some projects for the Fall-to-come, preparing a new chapter for the course about finishes on quilts (that will be so enriched with additional possibilities for finishing our beloved work with special-effects), and, last but not least, I have to apply in my study to complete the second Module for the QUILT JUDGING COURSE I'm attending.

Vi auguro quindi una buona estate, e vi aspetto a Settembre con una tazza di tè, nuove idee e nuovo entusiasmo. Un abbraccio a tutte voi

Super speedy Snowball block tutorial

Più facile di così.... non saprei! Easier is impossible!

Senza disegnare la diagonale sui quadrati - without drawing squares diagonal

Questo è il sistema che uso - This is the method I like to use for super speedy snowball blocks

Ogni blocco richiede 4 quadrati piccoli (e uno grande)

Each block needs 4 corner squares

Piegate a metà lungo la diagonale e stirate

Fold on the diagonal and press

Stirate tanti quadrati quanti ve ne servono

Do it on the number of square you need for your project

Posizionate l'ago un millimetro a dx della linea di piegatura

Move your sewing machine needle 1 mm on the right of the folded line

cucite su tutti gli angoli del quadrato grande centrale

just sew on all the corners of your block

Rifilate con il margine consueto

Trim all corner triangles following your own seam allowance (1/4")

Questo è il risultato prima dell'apertura degli angoli

This is the result just before you open corner triangles

Questo è il blocco finito, dopo che avrete semplicemente "aperto" i triangoli lungo la diagonale già stirata in precedenza

This is your block ready, just after you've open up your corner triangles, along the pressed line.

Al termine, potete ripassare nuovamente con ferro da stiro, per un ultimo ritocco.

At the end, you can press again to finish it perfectly.

Hello, still breathing... - Eccomi... scusate il silenzio

Hello everyone out there, I'm always on the run and I've had a very busy month, but now I'm so happy to be here with you. Wow... still breathing! March has been plenty of classes and I've been so lucky to be in some beautiful places, as Cagliari (Sardinia Island), just to say one. How are you?  

Ciao a tutte, eccomi qua, dopo alcune settimane di silenzio. Come molte di voi sono sempre di corsa, e questo è stato unperiodo molto impegnativo, ma ora finalmente sono tornata a casa. Wow... ora posso respirare un po'! Marzo è stato un mese davvero pieno, bello ed interessante, con tanti corsi da seguire, e ho avuto la fortuna di andare in città meravigliose come Cagliari, solo per citarne una. Voi come state?

As you can see, I'm working on a some kind of lace embroidery, to make this reversed appliquè heart as tri-dimensional.

Come vedete, nei momenti liberi sto lavorando a questo cuore, che una volta terminato sembrerà di pizzo tridimensionale. E' una tecnica di appliquè reverse che si chiama Mola, rivisitata in stile giapponese, con l'aggiunta di ricami semplici (punto coloniale, punto catenella) ma di grande effetto. Me l'ha insegnata la bravissima Teresa Boroni, che senz'altro molte di voi conosceranno.

When I woke up, early in the morning, having my cup of milk and coffee I was watching out of my favorite window. I love this little pine, it's so cute! I was thinking about my upcoming moving to Udine, next September, and hoping to see every morning a peaceful garden like this from my new window.

Quando stamattina presto mi sono alzata, mentre bevevo il caffè guardavo fuori della finestra. Sono innamorata di questo piccolo pino, è così cucciolo! Stavo pensando al mio imminente trasloco a Udine, il prossimo Settembre, e speravo sinceramente di poter ammirare un giardino così pieno di pace anche oltre la mia nuova finestra.
